Outreach

Within Wesley we have WOW (Women of Wesley) and the UMM (United Methodist Men) which meet about once each month for food and fellowship.  We also have small groups (Flocks) that meet monthly or bimonthly for a snack and fellowship, and we usually have a Bible study during Lent and Advent.

Other support we give outside our walls:

UMCOR (United Methodist Committee on Relief) is part of the United Methodist Church where 100 percent of donations go to provide relief for those suffering from disasters locally, nationally and globally.

Habitat for Humanity of Wake County helps connect volunteers to “build Homes, communities and hope”. Wesley has sent teams for the last several years and will volunteer during the fall 2024 Methodist build.

Mission to Haiti’s mission statement is: “Equipping Haitians Through Christian Education, Nutrition And Health Care”. Wesley supports our sister community in Ti Goave through our “Christmas Is Not Your Birthday” offering every year.

Methodist Home for Children provides “stable homes where children can thrive and live to their full, God-given potential”.

Shepherd’s Table Soup Kitchen in downtown Raleigh provides delicious hot meals for those in need during lunchtime.

Urban Ministries – from their website – “Urban Ministries of Wake County engages our community to serve and advocate on behalf of those affected by poverty by providing food and nutrition, promoting health and wellness and by laying the foundations of home.” Wesley also donates fresh produce from the PLOW Community Garden during the summer months.

Society of Saint Andrew is on a mission to end hunger by gleaning fields for extra food left by farmers, to end food waste and educate people on how to accomplish this.

The Helen Wright Center provides emergency shelter for single, adult women experiencing homelessness.

Rise Against Hunger provides hot meals to people throughout the world in order to ease worldwide hunger.

PostScript Outreach mission: “We combat loneliness by building authentic connections through creative expression and meaningful conversation by reaching out to the downtown Raleigh community and residents of the Sir Walter Senior Apartments”.
