Loving God, Loving Haiti

January 18th, 2010 by Dennis Peay

Last week’s earthquake in Haiti shook a nation of people and the world.  With so many affected what will we do in response?

Yesterday, the people of Wesley collected materials to pack 41 health kits while sending on a host of additional supplies. (Photos on Facebook) These kits along with others from NCSU Health Services and friends and families were part of 111 kits delivered to the Raleigh District collection point in Clayton Sunday afternoon. As of Sunday, the Raleigh District churches had collected over 18 tons of supplies for Haiti relief! Praise God!

Currently the rescue & recovery effort is being done my Haitians and trained personnel from numberous internation organizaitons. They need our PRAYERS and our gifts.

In the coming days and weeks there will be opportunities for you to give. The Raleigh District will continue to provide information on health kit and food collections. Servants will be needed here at Wesley to collect our gifts along at the collection points in the District. Down the road people will be needed on the ground in Haiti to help them rebuild and see hope realized.

Please keep your prayers going. Also, consider a gift to one of the many organizations that are provided assistance in rescue and recovery and HOPE!. Gifts sent to Wesley will be passed along to the UMCOR – The United Methodist Committee on Relief.
